4th Alpine Winter Conference on Medicinal and Synthetic Chemistry

 St. Anton, Austria    January 28-February 1, 2024

Social Programme

  • Welcome Reception - Sunday January 28

A Welcome Reception, sponsored by abcr, will take place on Sunday after the first session.

  • Conference Dinner - Tuesday January 30

Set in a tastefully refurbished historic mansion, just steps from the ski runs, gondolas and village center of St. Anton, the Museum is a restaurant that features a walk through ski history. A fusion of an Austrian-international style of cooking with fresh and regional ingredients and an inventive twist on classic favourites is what makes the meals taste great.

Welcome to a place where history comes to life, where people come together, and where delectable cuisine is served.

The participation in the dinner is optional, and subject to prior booking at the price of 75€. Please register during the online registration process or via the link "My registration" if you are already registered.

Walking Tours for Non-skiers

  • Winter Hiking to Verwall (10-km round trip) - Monday January 29

Take the old “Arlberg straße” street to the Hotel Mooserkreuz, heading steeply uphill (we recommend using the ski bus to the end of the old Arlbergstraße). From there, on almost flat terrain you have the possibility of walking to the Rasthaus Ferwall (roadhouse) or enjoying the panoramic walking trail around Verwall lake. This walk may easily become a highlight of your winter holiday.

  • Rodelhütte – tobogganing hut (7-km round trip) - Tuesday January 30

Walk along the “Kunstmeile“ to the cable car station in Nasserein, then head steeply uphill to the end of the “Nassereinerstraße” street. From here it is a quite strenuous uphill ascent (over 200 metres in elevation) to the toboggan run. Fantastic views over St. Anton am Arlberg and the “Stanzertal“ valley can be enjoyed from here.

  • Walking Trail - Jakobusweg (7-km round trip) - Wednesday January 31

The constant up and down hill sections are what makes this walk interesting. Proceed on the sunny side of the “Stanzertal” valley, parts of which follow along the famous St. James‘ pilgrimage trail. Connecting with other trails is possible. Narrow trail – Sturdy shoes required.

  • Walk to Nessler Alm - Thursday February 1

Take the bus to Pettneu and enjoy one of the various routes for botanists and connoisseurs to the Nessler Alm
